Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has debunked Parvez Jamil Mir for sharing a “baseless” fact involving him and Rashid Latif from 30 years ago.

While speaking on a Pakistani news channel, Mir claimed that back in 1993, Latif had slapped Miandad during a dressing room tussle.

Javed Miandad debunks PJ Mir over “baseless fact”

During an appearance on SAMAA TV, a Pakistan-based news channel, former Pakistan cricketer Parvez Jamil Mir, also known as PJ Mir, claimed that a fight broke out between Javed Miandad and Rashid Latif during a dressing room incident in 1993.

According to Mir, Latif even slapped Miandad during their dressing room tussle, even though the latter of the two was 11 years senior to him.

As it turned out, Javed Miandad has himself refuted any such incident, and debunked PJ Mir for sharing baseless facts on national television. The former captain took to X (formerly Twitter) and claimed that he always treated Latif as his brother and his teammates never disrespected or insulted him during their playing days. Miandad wrote:

“Today I saw a clip of "PJ Mir" where he share baseless fact b/w me and Rashid Latif he is always like my brother and these kids never insulted me nor disrespect me. I never allow someone use my name to get JOB in PCB.”

Javed Miandad, who retired from international cricket in 1996, represented his nation across 124 Tests and 233 ODI matches. Widely regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time and possibly the greatest ever from Pakistan, Miandad was also a part of his side’s triumphant 1992 World Cup squad in Australia.
