Jasprit Bumrah might not play vs Oman [Source: AFP]
According to the emerging reports, Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 encounter against Oman. The Indian team management is expected to rest the premier fast bowler, as the Men in Blue have already confirmed a berth in the Super Four round.
Bumrah Might Be Rested Vs Oman Due To Workload Management: Report
Jasprit Bumrah has blown hot and cold with the ball in the Asia Cup so far. Although the premier fast bowler has registered a magnificent economy of 6.71, he has managed only three wickets across two matches.
However, considering his proneness to injury, the Indian management could rest the speedster from their final group-stage match against Oman, scheduled to be played on Friday, September 19. As reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI), Bumrah might not feature in the Oman clash, and this could be the only change in India's playing XI for this encounter.
Who Could Replace Bumrah If He Sits Out?
If Jasprit Bumrah is rested, India will pick either Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana as his replacement against Oman. Although Harshit has a knack for taking wickets, Arshdeep's excellent T20I record, ability to make the new ball talk and keep the batters quiet in the death overs might pave the way for his inclusion in the Indian XI for this game.
India's Probable XI vs Oman (If Bumrah is rested)
Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav
Bumrah Has Yet To Bring His A-Game In Asia Cup
Despite bowling at a magnificent economy, Bumrah has scalped only three wickets in two matches. While he conceded 19 runs in three overs for a solitary wicket against the UAE, the ace pacer was hit for two massive sixes by Sahibzada Farhan, recording figures of two for 28 in his four-over spell against arch-rivals, Pakistan. These figures suggest that he hasn't quite been at his absolute best and would like to improve his numbers in the upcoming matches.
