James Vince voted Hampshire’s player of the month for June

Out of favour, England opener James Vince has been named Hampshire County Cricket Club's June player of the month, beating James Fuller, who was the other candidate. The player of the month was voted on by fans in collaboration with a leading pizza brand.

Vince won by a massive 46.9 per cent of the votes, double of what Fuller had received. Playing as an all-rounder, Fuller scored 201 runs and picked up 15 wickets for his side.

Out of their 12 encounters in the Southern Group, Hampshire have won 7 games and lost 5, placing them fourth in the standings with 14 points. They take on fifth-placed Gloucestershire on Friday evening at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

More on Vince, the dashing England opener has featured in 11 games this season, missing just one game due to illness. He is the side's leading run-getter, amassing 543 runs at a staggering average of 60.33, including two hundred and two fifties.

Vince has featured in two-record breaking stands for the club this season. He shared a 124 opening stand with Australia's Ben McDermott in their game against Sussex, which the pair broke in their next match against Middlesex, adding 132 runs for the first wicket.

The 31-year-old continued his form with massive hundreds that ransacked opponents Kent and Somerset.

He notched a 54-ball ton against Kent and a blistering knock of 129* from 62 balls against Somerset. Interestingly, the Sussex-born has accumulated 481 runs out of his 543 runs this season in June.

His performances for Hampshire have also seen Vince get shortlisted for the PCA Player of the Month for June. However, he faces stiff competition from Surrey's Will Jacks and the Derbyshire pair of Shan Masood and Wayne Madsen.

For England, Vince has played 13 Tests, 19 ODIs, and 17 T20Is. A white-ball specialist, he has 8,068 T20 runs from 298 games.
