England name squads for the T20I and ODI series against India

England have named the squads for the Vitality T20I series against India starting on July 7 and the Royal London ODIs against India starting later this month. Jos Buttler, England’s newly appointed limited-overs skipper, will be at the helm. Meanwhile, Adil Rashid will miss both series to make The Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.  

England T20I squad - Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Richard Gleeson, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Tymal Mills, Matthew Parkinson, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Reece Topley and David Willey.

England ODI squad - Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Craig Overton, Matthew Parkinson, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley and David Willey.

The first T20I will be played at the Ageas Bowl on July 7, followed by the second T20I on July 9 at Edgbaston and the third and final T20I at Trent Bridge on July 10. The ODIs will be played on July 12, 14 and 17 at Kia Oval, Lord’s and Emirates Old Trafford, respectively.

India, too, announced their squads for both the series on June 30. Rohit Sharma will lead the team in both the T20I and ODI series. In addition, Arshdeep Singh has received a maiden ODI call-up, while Shikhar Dhawan has also been recalled to the 50-over team. Virat Kohli has been rested for the first T20I but will return to action for the second and third T20Is, respectively.

India and England are currently playing the rescheduled fifth Test that started on Friday (July 1) in Birmingham.
