James Vince records highest individual T20 score in Hampshire's history

Hampshire's James Vince entered the record books on Thursday evening when he charted the highest individual T20 score in the county's history.

Amidst a 14-run victory against Somerset, Vince was the pioneer of Hampshire's innings. The Taunton crowd was greeted with a Vince special as the Hawks opener laid a breathtaking onslaught, smashing nine fours and ten sixes in his unbeaten stay of 129 runs at the crease.

The 31-year-old's record-breaking knock meant that Hampshire achieved the target of 208 runs, eventually proving to be enough for their sixth win in the ongoing T20 Blast.

Vince, who now has the record of highest personal T20 score for any Hampshire batter in his name, left behind Michael Lumb in the list. The retired English cricketer stood first in the list for the same feat yesterday as he scored 124* runs against Essex in 2009.

Apart from Vince, Tom Prest had a great day with the bat, accumulating 62 runs off 46 deliveries. For Somerset, Jack Brooks and Peter Siddle filled the wicket column with two scalps each.

The Tom Abell-led side made an incredible start in the run-chase, with their first three batters shaping up tremendously. While Tom Banton and Rilee Rossouw recorded half-centuries, Will Smeed gathered 43 runs in 27 balls.

However, the Hampshire bowlers pulled back the game well enough in the final overs to hand Somerset a defeat by 14 runs.
