ENG vs NZ 2022 | Ben Stokes creates history, unlocks new Test milestone

England captain Ben Stokes continues to scale new heights in a quest to become one of the greatest all-rounders of all time. Quite recently, the cricketer clubbed a 70-ball 75* to script an incredible Day 5 run-chase against the visiting New Zealanders. His match-winning knock was fuelled with four sixes while facing the likes of Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner.

Moreover, in the ongoing third Test of the series against the same opponents, Stokes unlocked a major Test milestone on Day 2.

The all-rounder faced just 13 balls to score 18 before he chipped to mid-off fielder Kane Williamson off the bowling of Wagner. He struck one, six and two boundaries during his short stay at the crease.

Remarkably, his latest six turned out to be the 100th maximum of his glittering Test career.

Stokes has now achieved an elite Test double, becoming the only cricketer in the world to do so. He currently holds the record of 100 sixes and over 100 wickets in the game's longest format.

As of now, the Durham cricketer has played 82 Tests for his country. Having compiled 5,255 runs at an average of more than 36, the all-rounder has also collected 177 wickets.

Stokes will resume action for England on Day 3 of the final Test against New Zealand at Leeds.

At stumps on Day 2, the hosts reached 264-6 from 49 overs, trailing the visitors by another 65 runs. In-form batter Jonny Bairstow registered his 10th Test ton and the second in succession and will resume his side's response at 130* on Day 3. Debutant Jamie Overton, who ended the day at 89*, will join Bairstow at the crease.
