After the conclusion of the IPL 2025 season, former India opener Virender Sehwag has unveiled his ‘Team of the Tournament’. Sehwag’s XI includes players who have shown consistency, explosiveness, and match-winning capabilities across all departments.

Kohli-Sudharsan To Open

At the top of the order, Sehwag has opted for Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan and RCB stalwart Virat Kohli. Sudharsan was the season’s standout batter. The GT star made 759 runs at a staggering average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17. Partnering with him is the evergreen Virat Kohli. RCB's hero Kohli compiled 657 runs in the tournament, with an average of 54.75 with a strike rate of 144.71. 

Middle Order Powerhouses

The middle order is packed with firepower and consistency. Leading the unit is Shreyas Iyer who captained PBKS to their first-ever final. Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of Sehwag’s XI. Joining him is Nicholas Pooran of LSG, who delivered a breathtaking season, racking up 524 runs in 14 matches at a mind-blowing strike rate of 196.25. 

Suryakumar Yadav also finds a place after a highly productive season with 717 runs, at an average of 65.18 and striking at 167.91. Heinrich Klaasen slots in next. The South African powerhouse hammered 487 runs in just 13 matches at a strike rate of 172.69. 

Bowling Unit

Sehwag he bowling department features a mix of pace and spin. The list included Josh Hazlewood, Prasidh Krishna, Noor Ahmad, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav. 

Hazlewood picked up 22 wickets in 12 games with an economy of 8.77. He is joined by Prasidh Krishna, who claimed the Purple Cap with 25 wickets in 15 matches at an economy of 8.27.

Recognizing game-defining performances, Sehwag named RCB’s Jitesh Sharma as the Impact Player of the Tournament. The aggressive finisher contributed significantly in the death overs, scoring 261 runs in 15 matches with an average of 37.29.

In a surprise move, Sehwag left out Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill despite their impressive performance.
