Indian armed forces executed a precision counter-terrorism operation across nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of May 8, neutralising over 80 terrorists linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The strikes, a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians, targeted terror hubs including training camps and radicalisation centres. Key sites in Bahawalpur and Muridke were among those hit, with 25–30 casualties reported per location.

The operation, termed one of India’s most extensive cross-border actions in recent years, drew widespread acclaim. Former cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, and Pragyan Ojha hailed the forces’ efforts, while KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy shared the Army’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ visuals on social media.

Notably, the Indian Army later posted a video on X with the message, “Justice is served,” as officials confirmed casualties between 80–90, pending final verification.

After the Pahalgam terror attack, the whole cricket community mourned the death of the innocent tourists and civilians as Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill alongside Gambhir posted on their social media handles to pay tribute to the dead.
