PCB chief executive Ramiz Raja has strongly refuted former captain Shahid Afridi's claims that star pacer Shaheen Afridi is paying for his injury treatment in London.

Shaheen, who suffered knee injury during the Test series in Sri Lanka back in July, is currently in London for his treatment and rehabilitation.

The PCB have been criticised by former cricketers and pundits for mishandling their premier pacer's injury.

However, things took a controversial turn this week when Shaheen's future father-in-law, Shahid Afridi claimed on TV channel 'Samaa TV'  that the board have abandoned the 22-year-old cricketer.

Here's what Shahid Afridi had said:

''When I talk about Shaheen.. that guy went to England on his own. He bought his own ticket, he spent his own money to stay in a hotel. I arranged a doctor for him, then he contacted the doctor. PCB is not doing anything, he was doing that on his own.”

''Players are the most important stakeholders for us''- Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja, on Friday, conducted a Q & A session on his YouTube channel where one of his followers asked him to clarify Shahid Afridi's claims.

Raja strongly refuted Afridi's allegations, asserting that players are the No.1 stakeholders for the PCB, and that the board have never abandoned even a 10-year-old budding cricketer.

"How can you even think that PCB can disown Shaheen Afridi? It is beyond my understanding. It’s an unfortunate controversy. When Mohammad Rizwan fell ill during the T20 World Cup last year, our doctors panel went out of their way to ensure he played the final. Players are the most important stakeholders for us. They must have been some issue with regard to his accommodation or hotel room, but we have definitely not left Shaheen in the lurch."

Meanwhile, Shaheen has been included in Pakistan's 15-member squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The left-arm seamer will, however, miss the 7-match home series against England, starting September 20. He is expected to return to the set-up ahead of the T20I tri-series in New Zealand.
