Ishan Kishan Dropped From Indian Team For Attending Sony TV Show KBC? Here's Real Truth

In a significant development, promising keeper-batter Ishan Kishan was dropped from India's squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. In his previous T20I series against Australia, Ishan was one of the most consistent performers for India, amassing 110 runs, including two consecutive fifties, at an impressive strike rate of 144.74.

However, as soon as Shreyas Iyer returned, the southpaw was benched to accommodate the famed Mumbai batter in the Indian lineup. If this wasn't enough, Kishan warmed the bench in South Africa T20Is before asking for leave due to mental fatigue ahead of the Test series.

As fans and experts expected the BCCI selection committee to pick Kishan for the Afghanistan series, his absence from the squad raised a million eyebrows. In such a scenario, BCCI's stance on Kishan has created confusion among the fans, giving rise to several fake narratives.

Some reports even claim that Ishan Kishan has faced the axe as a disciplinary action for attending Sony TV's popular game show KBC. However, renowned media agency Cricbuzz has quashed this theory, claiming it baseless.

Irrespective of the reason, Kishan's sudden disappearance from all formats is certainly surprising, given his recent batting exploits. Furthermore, his several state teammates have failed to communicate with him, as he has been inactive in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

Regardless of the reason, it's slightly irresponsible of the BCCI not to explain the backdoor decision in detail. Therefore, we hope the apex body soon comes up with an official statement on the southpaw's non-selection to clarify the rumours.
