Spencer Johnson is one of the most exciting talents in Australian cricket and has done well in the limited opportunities he has received from the Australian side. The left-arm pacer was included in the Champions Trophy squad in the absence of lead pacers like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins and the bowler was drafted in the playing XI vs England.

Johnson's average Champions Trophy debut

Known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, Johnson is a brilliant bowler up front and has often been compared with teammate, Mitchell Starc for the similar skillset. The pacer was expected to do well against England at the Gaddafi Stadium, but he disappointed the Aussie fans with his performance.

Johnson conceded runs for fun as English opener, particularly, Ben Duckett blasted him as the fast bowler had no answer to the onslaught by the england batters. He conceded at over 7 runs per over and had a disappointing outing.

Spencer Johnson IPL 2025 team and price

Interestingly, the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders showed faith in the Aussie pacer and picked him in their squad for INR 2.80 crore. Interestingly, just like the Australian squad, Johnson replaced Starc in the KKR lineup as well.

Starc played a pivotal part in helping KKR win the IPL last year, but was released ahead of the mega auction as Delhi Capitals purchased his services.

Johnson will join the KKR team ahead of the season, but prior to them, he has also represented Gujarat Titans last year. He was purchased by the Titans for a whopping 10 crore, but the performances were underwhelming. In 5 matches, the fast bowler picked up just 4 wickets, at an economy rate of 9.44.
