  • Irfan Pathan Grabs Eyeballs After A Controversial Tweet On Indias Squad For Wi Tour

Irfan Pathan grabs eyeballs after a controversial tweet on India’s squad for WI Tour

The former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has again gained the limelight due to his recent tweet on the Indian squad for the West Indies tour.

On July 6, BCCI announced the 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series against West Indies slated to be played from 22nd to 27th July at Port of Spain. The opening batter Shikhar Dhawan has been chosen as the leader of the Men in Blue, and Ravindra Jadeja will be his deputy.

However, the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant have been rested for this series, which has sparked a debate in the cricket fraternity.

After the announcement, Pathan took to Twitter and posted a tweet, that read "No one comes back to form while resting". He certainly took an aim at the recent form of Sharma and Kohli.

The 37-year-0ld seemed unhappy with the policy of the BCCI to rest the players on a consistent basis. It can be inferred from the tweet that the southpaw wanted to hint to the selectors that resting a particular player, will not help to find back the lost form.

Sharma missed the recent Test fixture against England due to covid illness. Furthermore, the 35-year-old had contributed only 50 runs in his last three outings for the Indian team.

On the other hand, Kohli returned with the knocks of 11 & 20 and was the major weakness of the visitors as they failed to secure a series victory.

In place of them, Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda have been named in the squad, who impressed in the recently completed T20I series against Ireland.

After the 50-overs series, the five-match T20I series will also take place between both the teams, which can witness both experienced batters in the line-up.
