CPL 2022 | Mohammad Amir and Sandeep Lamichhane join Jamaica Tallawahs

Jamaica Tallawahs have announced their overseas signings for the upcoming Hero CPL season. Pakistani left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir is among the five overseas players announced by Jamaica.

The trio of Imad Wasim, Chris Green and Miguel Pretorious competed for the Tallawahs in 2021 and will return this season.

Nepalese spinner Sandeep Lamichhane who has earned himself a reputation of being among the top T20 bowlers, has also signed up for Jamaica Tallawahs.

The leg-spinner previously played for Jamaica in the 2020 season, where he put on an impressive display. He had 12 scalps to his name with an economy rate of under six.

Jamaica have seven more spots to fill up in their squads. The remaining spots would be filled up at the Hero CPL Draft, which is scheduled to take place on July 7, Thursday.

West Indian all-rounder Rovman Powell will lead the franchise. Fabian Allen, Brandon King, and Shamarh Brooks are among the other domestic players in the side.

The addition of Mohammad Amir will surely add more variety of the pace bowling attack, given his ability to swing the ball both ways. Representing Barbados Tridents, the Pakistani pacer had 11 scalps to his name in the last season.

Coach Shivnarine Chanderpaul will look to have a successful season this time around. In 2021, Jamaica Tallawahs could manage to finish only fifth in the league stage. Unfortunately, this meant that they missed out on a playoff spot. Nevertheless, the franchise has won the tournament on two occasions, in 2013 and 2016.

Jamaica Tallawahs kick starts the men’s edition of the tournament by locking horns against reigning champions St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The fixture will be played on September 1, which starts a month of unlimited T20 action.
