IPL 2022 | 'We knew he was there, and we had the chance' - Ravindra Jadeja

If there's anything MS Dhoni is known for, it is his batting heroics and exhilarating finishes. Last night, MS Dhoni produced another fairy tale finish for the Chennai Super Kings against the Mumbai Indians in the 33rd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022

CSK beat MI by three wickets, needing 16 runs to win off the last four deliveries. Dhoni smashed a six, a four, a double and another four to finish the game in style. The elite finisher scored an unbeaten 28 off 13 balls to clinch the victory.

Five-time IPL champions thus became the first team to register seven losses in a single season of the IPL. While the Yellow Army only had one win to their name prior to their clash with MI, the side now have four points and sits at number 9 on the points table.

Chennai's skipper Ravindra Jadeja admitted that he was tense during the last few overs of the game, runs were piling up, and they only had a handful of deliveries to execute a win. While a wave of stress and pressure took over the pavilion. The team knew they could count on the former skipper for a signature finish.

"We were very tense about the way the game was going. But the great finisher of the game was still there, so we knew we had a chance. He's still here and doing it for us," said Jadeja in the post-match presentation.

Peers Kevin Pietersen, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Rashid Khan also lauded Dhoni for his master class finish.

Dwane Pretorius, who played his second match for the Chennai Super Kings, played a decisive role in the win against MI. He stated that he was in complete awe. And that Dhoni's advice regarding his shot selections during their partnership drove CSK to their second win.

Chennai Super Kings are scheduled to meet Punjab on the 25th at Wankhede Stadium.
