IPL 2022 | Unsold Dhawal Kulkarni to join Mumbai Indians squad

The 33-year old right-arm seamer, Dhawal Kulkarni, who went unsold at the auctions, is set to join Mumbai Indians at the end of the month.

After being unsold, the former MI pacer could be seen making his presence in the commentary box for the Star Sports team. He was part of the Hindi group and is all set to change roles and join MI, who are struggling to find a win.

Mumbai Indians are lying at the bottom of the table and looking for all combinations to get off running in this campaign. As pointed out and seen by many, their bowling line-up is the weakest of all departments, and, in such times, MI is looking for an experienced local player who is familiar with the pitches of Mumbai and Pune.

Kulkarni seems to be a perfect choice for Rohit and co as the former has given 8 years of his career to MI. He joined MI in the inaugural season and was associated with them till 2013. He later went on to play for Rajasthan and Gujarat before returning home in 2020.

Kulkarni has taken a total of 86 IPL wickets in 92 appearances. However, during his 2nd stint with the Paltans, Kulkarni played a total of 2 matches and went wicketless in both.

By joining the squad, Kulkarni will become the latest entrant to the list of players playing in the league since its inauguration.

Mumbai Indians have lost 6 matches in a row, their worst start in a season. However, with the incoming of Kulkarni, we could see him get a place in the playing 11 right from the start.
