  • Ipl 2022 Suryakumar Yadav Ruled Out Of Ipl 2022 Due To Forearm Muscle Injury

IPL 2022 | Suryakumar Yadav ruled out of IPL 2022 due to forearm muscle injury

In the latest development, the middle-order batter of Mumbai Indians (MI), Suryakumar Yadav, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 due to a left forearm muscle injury.

The official account of IPL posted an update on Twitter ahead of MI’s league match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). According to the statement, the dashing batter had sustained an injury in the last league game against Gujarat Titans (GT), wherein he could score only 13 off 11 balls.

“Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2022 owing to a left forearm muscle injury. Mr. Yadav sustained the injury during the team’s fixture against Gujarat Titans on 6th May, 2022,” the statement read.

The 31-year-old had also sustained a thumb injury during the West Indies series, which kept him out of the action against Sri Lanka, and he also missed the first few matches of the league.

Despite joining late, Yadav looked in sublime form, as he smashed a total of 303 runs in eight innings at an average of 43.29 and is the second highest run-scorer of the team as well. His top score of 68* off 37 balls came against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The Mumbai-born cricketer was named as ‘Player of the Match’ for his contribution of 51 off 39 against RR, which fetched the first win for MI in the ongoing season.

The Mumbai batter’s fitness will be a crucial issue for the Indian selectors as he will serve as the backbone of the Indian team heading into the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup scheduled later this year.

In place of Yadav, MI have included Ramandeep Singh for their fixture against Kolkata, scheduled for Monday (May 9) evening.
