‘Now it’s time to convert the starts’- Ravi Shastri opines on Rohit Sharma

Former Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri firmly believes that Rohit Sharma has started to hit a purple patch. Rohit had scored 43 runs in 28 balls where he was in full flow against Gujarat Titans.

Rohit came out all guns blazing and despite missing out on a well deserved half-century, looked in ominous touch.

Ravi Shastri strongly believes that whenever Rohit Sharma gets into 30-40 runs then a big score of 90- 100 runs is around the corner. Absolutely. What I liked about Rohit in the last game was that his attitude and intent were brilliant from the start. It feels like he’s making 30s, 35s, and 40s, now it’s time to convert [the starts].”

They’ll want to finish with a bang” – Ravi Shastri on MI

Mumbai Indians don’t have anything to play for in this tournament except pride. When a team has won the title five teams, they know that one or two such seasons can also come where nothing has worked for them. Rohit Sharma wasn’t in good form.

Rohit Sharma throughout his opening career always takes time to get his eye in before hitting a purple patch and going bang bang. But this time Ishan Kishan didn't provide enough support so there was a lot of pressure and in the end, Mumbai Indians suffered a lot,” Shastri stated.

“MI cricket fans should not forget that he is the only Skipper in the history of IPL who has five titles to his name and one bad season can happen to anyone, in 2020 CSK had a below-par season where they weren’t able to find their groove, and failed to make it to the playoffs.

It's not a panic and wake-up call just MI management need to be more cautious in the auction before selecting a squad because letting Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya go proved to be too costly even when they knew that Kieron Pollard isn’t a consistent bloke,” the former india player concluded.

It has been a poor season for Mumbai Indians as they made a record by losing 8 matches on the trot. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan who were expected to fire all the cylinders failed badly.  But at the same time, they have found new players in the form of Dewald Brevis, Tilak Verma and a lot of youngsters have shown promise.
