  • Babar Is The Most In Form Batter At The Moment Says Daniel Vettori

'Babar is the most in-form batter at the moment,' says Daniel Vettori

The rise of Babar Azam is one of the most significant phenomena in the world of cricket in recent times. The Pakistani captain has impressed the cricket fraternity to a great extent with his consistent impressive outings across formats.

The former New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori has heaped praises on the star Pakistani batter. Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, Vettori opined that although it's a challenging task to find out the best batter as there exist three different formats of the game, Babar Azam is the most consistent and in-form batter of the present time, as evident from his exceptional performance in the recently concluded home series against Australia.

"The different formats of the game make it tough to say overall, but right now, Babar Azam is the most in-form batter on the back of his series against Australia", Vettori said.

After making his international debut in 2015 at the tender age of 20, Babar has gradually established himself as Pakistan's finest batter. Statistically, the 27-year-old has amassed 9798 international runs at a magnificent cumulative average of 50.76 across formats.

Although Pakistan lost to Australia, the stylish batsman from Lahore accumulated 390 runs at a stunning average of 78 in the Test series. Further, carrying his excellent touch forward, Babar smashed 276 runs in the following 3-match ODI series and contributed vital 66 runs in the one-off T20I. His incredible consistency with the bat made him the most suitable candidate to take up the captaincy after the ouster of Azhar Ali in tests and Sarfaraz Ahmed in limited-overs cricket.

Babar recently became the first ever Pakistani captain to register a victory against India in a World Cup match in a historic turn of events. Looking at his potential both as a batter and captain, it can be said that he is going to play a huge hand in taking Pakistan cricket to new heights.
