IPL 2022 | SRH's Umran Malik bowls the second fastest delivery of IPL history

Sunrisers Hyderabad speedster Umran Malik bowled the fastest delivery of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he clocked 157 kph in the final over against the Delhi Capitals at Brabourne Stadium on Thursday (May 5).

It was a full-length ball, which Rovman Powell smacked for four in the gap between extra cover and mid-off. Malik finished with figures of 4-0-52-0, conceding 19 of those runs to Powell in the final over.

The SRH pacer has so far picked up 15 wickets in 10 IPL games. His best bowling figure of 5/25 came against the league leaders Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He has regularly clocked deliveries above 150 kmph in the ongoing season of IPL.

Coming to the fastest ball bowled in the history of IPL, the record is clenched by Australia's Shaun Tait, who clocked 157.71 kmph while playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 11th edition of the IPL.

Fastest Deliveries In IPL History:

1. Shaun Tait: 157.71 Kmph.

2. Umran Malik: 157 Kmph

3. Anrich Nortje: 156.2 Kmph

4. Umran Malik: 156 kmph

5. Anrich Nortje: 155.2 Kmph.

The SRH speedster, the fast-bowling sensation from Jammu and Kashmir, has been clocking over 150 kmph at regular intervals. He has won the award for the fastest delivery of the match in almost every game he has played for Hyderabad so far.

However, Umran was taken to the cleaners by DC batters on Thursday. The SRH pacer conceded 52 runs in his four overs and returned wicketless. David Warner and Rovman Powell used the pacer's speed to smash the ball all around the park.
