  • Ipl 2022 Tymal Mills Ruled Out Of The Tournament Replaced By Sa Prodigy Tristan Stubbs

IPL 2022 | Tymal Mills ruled out of the tournament, replaced by SA prodigy Tristan Stubbs

In what comes as a massive blow for Mumbai Indians, the 29-year old left-arm pacer Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the remaining season of the Indian Premier League due to an injury.

Meanwhile, the record five-time champions have already announced the replacement for the English pacer as they have roped in the 21-year old South African Tristan Stubbs as Mills’ replacement. The young South African middle-order batter will join Mumbai Indians at the price of INR 20 Lakh.

“Mumbai Indians have signed South African Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for Tymal Mills, who has sustained an injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL,” MI wrote in a press release.

“The 21-year-old, talented middle-order batsman recently debuted for the national South African A Squad against Zimbabwe. Tristan has had a very promising domestic season and played an important role for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league.”

“Tristan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season.”

Stubbs has recently made his debut for South African A against Zimbabwe. Tristan has played 17 T20s and has scored 506 runs at a strike rate of 157.14.

Tymal Mills, who was bought by the franchise for INR 1.50 crore in the mega auction ahead of the tournament, turned out to be their most expensive bowlers in terms of economy. The 29-year old pacer has featured in five IPL matches for Mumbai Indians, taking just six wickets while conceding runs at an economy rate of 11.17.

Mumbai are having an awful season, having lost all of their opening eight matches and becoming the first team to get eliminated from the ongoing edition of the tournament.

Rohit Sharma and co. recorded their maiden win of the season against Rajasthan Royals last week, defeating the Sanju Samson-led unit by five wickets at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians are scheduled to play their next match against the league leaders Gujarat Titans at Brabourne Stadium, and it is yet to be seen if Stubbs will be available for the upcoming games of MI.
