  • Ipl 2022 No Ball Controversy In Final Over Rishabh Pant Recalls Batters To The Dugout

IPL 2022 | No-ball controversy in final over, Rishabh Pant recalls batters to the dugout

Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals faced each other in a high-scoring spectacle. The match was inclined towards the Royals till the 19th over until Obed McCoy came to bowl the final over to Rovman Powell.

Thirty-six runs were needed in the final over, and the only thing DC fans were hoping for was something similar to what Yuvraj Singh did to Stuart Broad.

The West Indian hard-hitter made up his mind to fight till the very end and bashed 3 six in a row. What looked impossible was halfway through to become one of the most amazing finishes to a match,

24 runs were required of the last 4 balls, which is when the most controversial incident occurred. When McCoy bowled his 3rd delivery, he tossed a high full toss that looked over the waist with a naked eye. The ball went for six, but umpires found the ball to be fair.

Anguished by the umpire's decision, the Capital's camp was out of their seats and halted the match by arguing with the umpires. Rishabh Pant was in such disbelief that he asked his batters to leave the field and come back to the dugout.

Another astonishing point was that 3rd umpire didn't intervene in the decision. All this chaos saw the match halt for around 5 minutes. After resumption, DC could only manage to score 2 runs of the final 3 balls.

Here are the pictures of the ball that was bowled above the waist and Rishabh Pant calling his batters to the dugout.

Twitter was divided into half as one section called it upright robbery while others defended umpires' decisions. However, several cricketers and analysts have raised concerns over 3rd umpires' role in this decision.

Glenn Maxwell tweeted, "So umpires check no balls for front foot every ball, but can't check a high full toss? Makes sense"

Irfan Pathan also tweeted, "What was the 3rd Umpire doing?"

And finally, the captain himself, in the post-presentation stated, "Disappointed but can't do much about it."

Post the result, Rajasthan Royals now go on top of the table with 10 points, while DC stays on 6th.
