IPL 2022 | LSG vs KKR | Match 53 Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) would be keen to put brakes on high-flying IPL newcomers Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and clinch a crucial win when the two sides face each other in the 53rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Saturday (May 7) at Maharashtra Cricket Association, Pune.

Lucknow Super Giants have lived up to their pre-tournament expectations and emerged as a team to beat this year. They have so far played 10 matches and went on to win 7 out of them. They smashed Delhi Capitals in their previous outing by 6 runs and would be looking to sustain their winning momentum to remain in the top-two.

The Knight Riders, on the other hand, finally managed to put their five matches losing streak to an end as they handed the Rajasthan Royals a 7-wicket defeat in their most recent fixture. They have won 4 out of 10 games, and a win here will help them climb up in the points table. Though their chances of making it to the playoffs have almost vanished, they will be keen to put up their best to get as many wins to end their IPL 2022 on a high note.

'He partied more than practicing or playing matches': Virender Sehwag on David Warner

David Warner is regarded as one of the finest openers of this generation. But as we all know, controversy has always been part and parcel of the dashing Australian batsman's career. The southpaw is infamous for his several off-field incidents, one of which was recently revealed by the legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag. Before the start of the IPL encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday, Sehwag addressed that Warner preferred partying and used to neglect the practice sessions during his stint with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2009. As per Sehwag, Warner's indiscipline frustrated him as he was the side's skipper. "I too have vented out my frustrations on a couple of players and David Warner was one of them. Because when he had joined newly, he partied more than believing in practice or playing matches", Sehwag said during a show on Cricbuzz. The 'Nawab of Najafgarh' also disclosed that Warner had indulged in fight with some of his teammates during IPL 2009, which led to the southpaw's axing from the team in the latter stage of the tournament. According to the ex-Indian cricketer, this move was meant to teach Warner a lesson and it also didn't backfire the team as they continued winning matches even in the absence of Warner. "In the first year, he had a fight with a few players so we sent him back for the last two matches. Sometimes it happens that you keep someone out to teach him a lesson. He was new, so it was important to show him that you alone are not important for the team, others are too. There are other players who can play and win the match for the team. And that's what happened. We kept him out of the team and won as well," the 43-year-old concluded.

Reports: India to play 3 ODIs & 5 T20Is in the Caribbean & US, this July-August

Team India will travel to the Caribbean later this July, where they will lock horns with the West Indies in 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. According to a report published in CricBuzz, the Rohit Sharma-led unit will kickstart their 20-day tour with the ODI series commencing on July 22 in Trinidad & Tobago. The iconic Queens Park Oval will host the three ODIs on July 22, 24 and 27. The action will then move to the newly-built Brian Lara Stadium, where the first T20I of the five-match series will be played on July 29.
