IPL 2022 | 'It was tough as I am playing (IPL) after 3-4 years'- Pradeep Sangwan

Gujarat Titans left-arm seamer Pradeep Sangwan made a memorable comeback to the IPL after a gap of 4 seasons, courtesy of a brilliant performance against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the 31-year-old has admitted that he was nervous as he was making a return after a long time.

Prior to Saturday's game, Sangwan last made an appearance in the cash-rich league back in 2018. Since then, his career has been plagued with injuries.

On Saturday, the 2008 U19 World Cup-winner bowled a match-winning spell for his team. He gave away just 19 runs in four overs and claimed the prized scalps of Faf du Plessis and the dangerous-looking Rajat Patidar.

Sangwan enjoyed his comeback outing while also opening up about the difficulty a bowler faces when he is on a comeback trail.

He said:

"I enjoyed it a lot. It was tough as I am playing (IPL) after 3-4 years, difficult to come back after an injury but I am happy that I had a good game," Sangwan told Star Sports.

"The ball is coming on nicely, at the start it was gripping and stopping but got better as the innings progressed. It was difficult to bowl three overs on the trot in this heat but Shami had gone for some runs and the captain asked me if I could bowl," he added.

Meanwhile, Gujarat have scripted yet another final over heist courtesy of the bats of Rahul Tewatia and David Miller to consolidate their top spot in the points table.

The duo hammered 79 runs between them in the last 6.4 overs, with Tewatia hammering an unbeaten 25-ball 43 and Miller clobbering 34* (24) with the help of 4 fours and 1 six.

Earlier, Virat Kohli made his first IPL 50 after 14 innings, while Rajat Patidar hammered a 29-ball half-century before Glenn Maxwell and Mahipal Lomror provided the finishing touches to help RCB post 170.

Ultimately, it didn't prove to be enough as GT scripted their 5th final over heist this season to consign the Bangalore franchise to their third consecutive defeat.
