IPL 2022 | 'I would like to see myself as all-rounder in near future' - Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi is having an impressive outing in his third consecutive IPL season. The leg spinner from Rajasthan, who rose to fame by bowling incredibly well in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, has picked 35 wickets in his IPL career so far with a pretty decent economy of 7.39.

However, the 21-year-old tweaker has expressed his desire to emerge as a bowling all-rounder shortly. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Bishnoi revealed that he is working really hard on his batting, and he aspires to evolve as a bowling all-rounder.

"Absolutely! I would like to see myself in such a role (spin bowling all-rounder) in the near future. I'm working very hard on my batting and will try my best to be a match-winner with the bat. Even if I can contribute 10 runs to a winning cause, I'll be satisfied with my performance. I'm focused on improving my batting," Bishnoi said.

When enquired about the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, Bishnoi said that Gambhir, like his playing days, gives the freedom to the bowlers to bowl at attacking lines. Continuing, Bishnoi said that the former Indian opener encourages him to bowl with an aggressive mindset as he believes that a team wins only if its bowlers possess the wicket-taking mentality.

"GG (Gautam Gambhir) sir was indeed a bowler's captain during his playing days, and he supports the bowlers a lot even now", Bishnoi said. "He always tells me to bowl aggressively because a team wins only when the bowlers have a wicket-taking mentality," the 21-year-old concluded.

‘Haven’t been able to do that’ - Rahul Tewatia opens up on his wish to speak to MS Dhoni

Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounder Rahul Tewatia, on Sunday (May 15), has revealed that he has never spoken to legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni. In an interview during the afternoon game between GT and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022), Tewatia admitted that he desired to talk to the four-time title-winning captain but because of his shy nature, he couldn't have a conversation with Dhoni. "For a long time, I have been wanting to talk to him, but I have not been able to do that (smiles). I hope that I can have a chat with him today, and I can discuss my finishing skills and talk cricket with him. Yes, I am kind of a shy person. It takes me a little time before I mix up with everyone, but I hope I can talk to Mahi Bhai today," Tewatia mentioned in an interview during the GT-CSK game. Tewatia has earned the title of a finisher in the 20-over format with some scintillating performances in the run chases with the bat in the cash-rich league. And when asked about his mindset coming in to bat in the second innings of a game, he replied: "When you chase a target, you know the exact runs you need to score. Then you need to target a bowler. We have been doing that thing well. We decide on one bowler and attack him all-out. The best thing that has happened to me this season is a set batter is there in the middle when I come to bat. So that helps my confidence." The Haryana-based cricketer has played the role of pinch-hitters in the IPL for the Titans and Rajasthan Royals (RR). While their role is limited, they haven't disappointed when given the opportunity. In the ongoing season, his unbeaten knocks of 40 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and 43 against Royal Challengers Bangalore stood out. His calmness in the crunch situations has been notable across the last few editions.
