Bangladesh's key member Mohammad Saifuddin has been cleared of injury concerns and is set to play against the West Indies in June-July. The all-rounder was a surprise visitor at the practice session on May 14 (Saturday) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
The unexpected appearance was also doubted as he was not a part of the red-ball squad against Sri Lanka.
Further, it was revealed that the national selectors wanted Saifuddin to undertake a fitness test, with an all-important West Indies tour at the back of their mind, consisting of two Tests, three T20I matches and as many ODIs.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed that the 25-year old has regained fitness and will be part of the touring party for the West Indies. "Saifuddin is doing fine and is fit. He is going to West Indies," a BCB official said to Dailystar.
Saifuddin, who last appeared in international cricket in T20 World Cup 2021, was ruled out due to a back injury in the middle of the tournament. Afterwards, he underwent a rehab session at Feni after assessing his injury in England.
The emerging cricketer did not participate in the Bangladesh Premier League but marked his presence in the recently concluded Dhaka Premier League.
In 14 DPL appearances for Abahani Limited, Saifuddin scalped 22 wickets at an economy of 5.19 and contributed 270 runs with the bat.
With the fine promise shown by him, the selectors have indeed bestowed trust on him to do well in international cricket.
