WATCH: James Anderson knocks over Joe Root with a beauty

Legendary England seamer James Anderson got one over his former Test skipper, Joe Root. The Lancashire cricketer knocked over the latter with a peach of a delivery in the ongoing County Championship game.

During the 22nd over of Yorkshire's second innings, Anderson got one to nip back into Root. But, unfortunately, Root made the cardinal sin of playing inside the line of the delivery and ended up seeing his off and leg-stump getting rattled.

Anderson was cock-a-hoop after dislodging his former Test skipper and legendary Yorkshire batsman, Root.

Watch Joe Root's dismissal here:

Root managed just four of ten deliveries, and the wicket came at a perfect time for Lancashire as the 31-year-old batsman could once again have proven to be a thorn in their flesh as in the first innings.

Root scored a brilliant 147 off 218 deliveries to lead Yorkshire's reply in the first innings after Lancashire racked up 566/9. Root was the lone warrior for Yorkshire in their first innings, with the second-best score being 41 by Harry Brook.

Anderson, who managed just a single wicket in the first innings, has started brilliantly in the second, claiming Dawid Malan for 23, in addition to Root.

At the time of writing, Yorkshire were reeling at 67/3 in 34 overs, and they are still 120 runs in arrears.

Meanwhile, Anderson is all set to make a return to the England Test team for the upcoming international summer after being dropped from the set-up for the recent tour of the Caribbean.

England will usher in a new era in Test cricket under the leadership of captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum when they take on the reigning World Test Championship holders New Zealand at Lord's next month.

The three-match Test series will get underway on June 02 in London.
