IPL 2022 | ‘I batted 90 minutes in the nets yesterday’- Kohli after his match-winning knock

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli spoke about his preparations leading up to the game against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Kohli has been struggling with his form for a long time now. In the IPL 2022, before the game against Gujarat Titans, he had scored just 236 runs in 13 games with a solitary fifty. The RCB opener got back into form with a sublime 73-run off 54 balls, including eight fours and 2 sixes, but was eventually outfoxed by Rashid Khan.

Kohli revealed that in the build-up to the game against Gujarat, he batted for 90 minutes in the nets

"It was an important game. I was disappointed that I had not done enough for the team. Today was a game where I was able to create an impact for the team. Puts us in a good position. You need to keep the perspective right

You can forget the process in order to live up to the expectations. I have worked really hard. I batted 90 minutes in the nets yesterday. I came in very free and relaxed," said Virat Kohli after his Man of the Match performance at the Wankhede on Thursday.

"I won't be standing here being ungrateful for all that I have achieved. With the very first shot of Shami, I felt I could hit length balls over the fielder's head. I knew that tonight was the night when I could kick on. It has been wonderful that I have got so much support in this edition. I am forever grateful for all the love that I have never seen before," Kohli added.

Chasing a modest total of 169 runs at Wankhede, Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis desperately needed a good opening stand. Kohli and du Plessis provided just that with a 100+ opening stand. After which, Maxwell's finishing touches helped RCB win their last league game of the tournament.

The ex-RCB skipper ended the Man of the Match drought in the Indian Premier League with his astonishing innings. The last time he bagged a man of the match trophy was 564 days ago in IPL 2020 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on October 10th for his unbeaten innings of 90 runs.
