IPL 2022 | Skipper Rahul lavishes praises on his franchise's find Mohsin; hints about his India call-up

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul praised his young fast bowler Mohsin Khan and hinted at a possible national team call-up. After Lucknow registered their ninth win of the season, skipper KL Rahul reviewed his team's performance in a close game at the post-match presentation.

"Everyone has been brilliant, starting with Lewis; that catch was brilliant. He's been struggling with tummy issues for the last few weeks, been in and out of the team. Never easy. Didn't get to bat today. But that's what you want to see from players, their desire to contribute in any way possible," KL Rahul said at the post-match press conference.

Rahul talked about the high-intense action of the game and also addressed how the high-scoring match could have gone in any team's favour.

"I should probably get paid more for games like these. Could easily have been on the losing side and have gone back home thinking we lost due to some poor cricket. Good way to finish the last game of the league season. Credit to both teams to make such a brilliant game of cricket.

"Can't say we held our nerves better because it was a matter of three runs. For Stoinis to execute those plans in the last two balls to get us the win was brilliant," said Rahul.

Rahul was all praise for the LSG left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, who returned with 3 wickets while giving only 20 runs in his full quota of four overs.

"Mohsin has been outstanding for us in the last few games. He's got the skills, but the key thing has been his knowledge of when to use those skills. He'll be donning the Blue jersey soon the way he is going," Rahul said.

Known for his vicious bouncers, the left-arm pacer was roped in by LSG at his base price of INR 20 lakh at the IPL 2022 auction. A bargain signing for the Lucknow Super Giants, pacer Mohsin has bagged 13 wickets from 8 matches this season.

With BCCI selectors likely to rest senior players for the T20I series against South Africa, Mohsin's impressive IPL run puts him in a solid position to make the cut.

Additionally, LSG became the second side to qualify for the IPL 2022 play-offs, beating Kolkata Knight Riders by two runs in a final-ball thriller on Wednesday (May 18).
