IPL 2022 | Warner emphasises that DC will have to win every game to make it to Final

The Australia explosive opener David Warner has emphasised that Delhi Capitals have fluffed its lines during a few chases. The mid-table ‘congestion’ only means that they have to win their remaining games to fancy the knockout stage. 

Delhi, who are currently seventh in the standings, have still five matches left in the league stage. Before the start of this season, the Rishabh Pant-led franchise were touted to be a team to watch out for. However, things have not gone as per DC’s plan. 

Ahead of the match against Hyderabad, Warner cited, “Moving forward from where we are, we’ve obviously got to win every game to make it to the finals. 

“We could get that upper hand if we beat the Sunrisers. We then go into the top four, but obviously, we need RCB to start losing as well. It’s quite a congested table but exciting for the rest of the tournament,” the 35-year-old said.

The left-handed batter admitted that some of the matches went amiss for the Capitals as they did not chase well. 

“I think if you look at the results, we’ve just missed out when we are chasing those big totals. We have managed to get so close, but they are the ones that hurt you.” 

Contemplating ahead of the game against his former team, Warner revealed, “My thoughts are like every other game; just keep going through your processes till you have to do it, training and just get ready for the game.”

The swashbuckler, who joined the DC squad two matches late, is his franchise’s leading run-scorer with 264 runs at a staggering average of 44 and an even better strike rate of 156.21. 

Meanwhile, the Capitals are all set to face a high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad at Brabourne Stadium tomorrow (May 5).
