IPL 2022 | 157 wasn't a good total by RCB on that track, believes Sachin Tendulkar

Jos Buttler hogged the entirety of the limelight from the Rajashthan Royals (RR) 7-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Qualifier 2 on Friday evening in Ahmedabad, which helped the franchise book their place in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

His fourth hundred took a bit of sheen away from the efforts of the Sanju Samson-led side's bowling duo of Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy. The pair snatched six wickets between themselves to ensure RCB lingered to 157 in their quota of 20 overs.

Former India great Sachin Tendulkar has praised the bowling pair and slated the total put in front of RR was not enough on that track.

"Along with Prasidh, Obed McCoy was the key bowler. Both kept Bangalore under pressure. Prasidh dismissed Karthik, who has been batting very well down the order with a good strike rate and followed it up with a brilliant delivery to Hasaranga. 157 wasn't a good total at all on this surface," Tendulkar explained on his YouTube channel.

Krishna picked up Virat Kohli's wicket to peg Bangalore down early and came game back in the death overs to clean up Dinesh Karthik and Wanindu Hasaranga off consecutive balls, finishing with figures of 3 for 22.

Tendulkar, who has praised Krishna before, explained his dismissal of Kohli in detail.

"When the ball is moving only one way, it is easy to leave deliveries. However, one of the balls came back in and hit Virat on the thigh. Batters then think, 'I can't leave the balls'. Prasidh's follow-up delivery (wicket ball) was very good. Virat was beaten by the bounce, and the ball moved away off the wicket. That was a fantastic delivery," the 49-year-old articulated.

Tendulkar also lauded RCB's middle-order batter Rajat Patidar's effort with the bat, who top-scored for the Faf du Plessis-captained side with 58.

"Where there is pace and bounce on the wicket, it is not easy for batters to adjust, but Patidar did quite well. The two cover drives he hit off Prasidh, his position was excellent. I liked his calm and controlled approach during his innings," the legend concluded.

The IPL final will be played on Sunday evening in Ahmedabad between the Hardik Pandya-led Titans and Samson-skipper Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
