IPL 2020 | SRH vs CSK: Hits Flops as clinical Chennai lands a comprehensive win over David Warner's Hyderabad

As all three departments - batting, bowling, and fielding synced together for Chennai Super Kings for the first time this season, the team defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 20 runs in a tightly contested game in Dubai.

Having decided to bat after winning the toss, the Chennai team didn’t quite have an ideal start. But true to their character so far, the team made a comeback and that to a strong one with a partnership between Rayudu and Shane Watson. The pair added 81 runs for the third wicket.

Bowling wise too, the Super Kings had a good purchase as their bowlers executed the plans and took early wickets. For Hyderabad, there were many visible errors on the part of individuals and also as a team which led to such a defeat in back-to-back games.

On that note here are the hits and flops of the game.

#1 Sam Curran

Curran was brilliant for the Super Kings both with the bat and the ball. He not only opened the innings and scored a quickfire 31 off 21 deliveries, but also opened the bowling for the team. In his three overs, Curran only gave 18 runs and also took the important wicket of David Warner. All these contributions for sure take him to the number one spot in the list of Hits and Flops. The fact that Curran was able to give momentum to the team in batting and direction to it in bowling, makes him an expensive commodity in the market and CSK must consider themselves lucky to him right now.

#2 Karn Sharma

Not the best spinner in the Chennai squad, it must have come as a pleasant surprise for Sharma to be in the lineup today. To his credit, he performed really well in that test as he was able to take two important wickets of Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg, also the two men on whose shoulders rested the responsibility of a Hyderabad win.

Sharma’s figures of 2/37 in four overs with him bowling two in the death should also be taken into consideration.

#3 Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja was at his usual best for the first time in this year’s league as he performed both with the bat and also with the ball. While batting it was Jadeja’s cameo of 25 off 10 balls that took the CSK team from 155 to 168. He hit three fours and one six during that innings.

In bowling, the ‘Royal Navghan’ of Rajkot was right on the money as he kept bowling at the same line once he found one. This forced batters to commit mistakes and that’s how he got the all-important wicket of Jonny Bairstow. In his three overs, he took one wicket and gave away just 21 runs.

#1 David Warner

The captain of the Hyderabad outfit, Warner wasn’t able to either consolidate on the momentum built by the bowlers in the first innings, or create new momentum with the bat. He rather fell prey to Sam Curran’s swing and gave away his wicket while at 9 off 13 deliveries.

Apart from batting, him as captain while selecting the team also faltered as he played an extra bowler by sitting out a batsman. A move that backfired big time later.

#2 Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey arrived at the crease with a cracking four, but had a brain fade moment at the very next ball as he ran for a single when there were none and courtesy a Dwayne Bravo throw, he was found short of the crease and thus had to take a long walk back home (dugout).

In such a run chase, the experience of Pandey was what was required, but he failed to perform up to the expectations at the highest level.

Special Mention: MS Dhoni

The man was flawless today apart from the 'intimidation' incident he had with umpire Paul. There was clarity in his head and also in the heads of his troop as well. His quickfire 21 from 13 balls also helped the team reach a defining total. post that in the second innings, his bowling changes were superb and so was humility with the young guns post-match.

IPL 2020 Mid-Season Transfer Window: All you need to know

Not too long back Lionel Messi’s transfer saga involving Barcelona broke the internet. While the transfer market is a vital part in the game of football, it is slowly and steadily making ground in cricket. The Indian Premier League 2020 has so far offered numerous breathtaking moments and the mid-season transfer window is set to add an edge to the money-spinning league. The IPL 2020 mid-season transfer window opened on Tuesday as the league reached the half-way mark post Royal Challengers Bangalore’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. All the teams have played seven matches which make them eligible to participate in the transfer window. Teams now have the liberty to loan out both Indian and foreign players. The rule is applicable for capped as well as uncapped players. The window would come as a fresh lease of life to bench-warmers who are raring to make a statement. The lending franchise will avail the mutually agreed sum between the two bodies. Fifty per cent of the loan fee will have to be paid within seven days of registration and the rest within seven days of the finale of the season. Both the player and franchise will have to mutually agree to the terms, the franchise will take the final call. There have been a lot of speculations surrounding the transfer window, let’s settle it for once and all. When does the IPL 2020 mid-season transfer window start? The transfer window started on Tuesday, October 13 and it will last for five days. What are the changes in the transfer window this year? Unlike last year, capped players are also eligible for a transfer. In 2019, the IPL Governing Council introduced the transfer window which was solely aimed at the transfer of uncapped players. What are the criteria players must fulfil to make a temporary move from the parent team to the other side? The rules clearly state that only those players who have played in two or fewer matches for their parent team in the ongoing league will be eligible to make a switch. Will there be any restrictions on players who would switch sides in IPL 2020? The cricketers who sign for a different team during the window will not be allowed to play against his parent team. IPL 2020 |DC vs RR: Match Preview, Predicted XI & Dream11 Fantasy Picks

Two teams with two totally different mindsets and different sets of results in their last games would be up against each other today in Dubai in what could turn out to be a moving game of the tournament, especially for the Rajasthan Royals. For Delhi too, it would be a game of proving that their depth in batting, even without Rishabh Pant and that in bowling, even without Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra. Rajasthan will be looking to cash in on the experience of their Most Valuable Player (MVP) Ben Stokes, who has just joined the bandwagon and the team won the first game after a long time just as he joined. The Shreyas Iyer led the young side capable of turning any match on its head must and will be trying to concentrate on building long partnerships, which give quick runs to the team. The two teams met each other in Sharjah earlier and Delhi humbled Rajasthan in that game. In this game, a reenergized Royals would for sure be looking to square the ties and exact the revenge in the capital city of the Emirates. DC needs to finish strong: Delhi Capitals in most of the matches haven’t got the platform ready from where the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, and Axar Patel could launch the attack in the death overs. It is one of the most important aspects of the game where coach Ponting and his team of support staff need to pay attention to. Along with that, somebody in the camp also needs to tell Shikhar Dhawan that he needs to play fast at the opening position. His not being able to time the ball and hit hard according to the situation, is bringing the run rate down in the death overs, if he remains on the crease till them and even otherwise. Rajasthan needs stability in the playing XI: In the seven games that the ‘Halla Bol’ unit has played so far, the team combination has always looked unstable and the last game where a purely middle-order batsman Ben Stokes was asked to open the innings was just an example of that instability and lack of confidence of the management in the players. Between Robin Uthappa and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Steve Smith-led side has done a lot of experiment, they need to get a clarity of who their playing XI is and need to persist with them continuously for at least three games to get the desired results. Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kolkata Knight Riders: Match Details Match Number- 30 Date: 14th October 2020, at 7:30 PM IST Venue: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai Pitch Report: With the weather getting colder and the same wickets getting used more and more, the pitches in UAE are now starting to show their true nature of being low and slow, a perfect blend for low scoring thrillers. The wicket for this match would be the same used for the clash between Hyderabad and Chennai and hence would be slow for sure. In that regard, the team winning the toss would like to bat first to make sure that the spinners make the best use of the pitch. Weather and Toss With winters approaching in the desert, the temperatures at the night are falling, humidity is decreasing and thus the ‘due’ is not having much effect on the game. The pitches are getting dryer and are helping spinners getting a grip from it, making the ball slower and helping it turn as well. Team News Delhi Capitals The team would look to bring back Hetmyer as, without him, it became very difficult for them to get to good score in the death, especially after Stoinis fell down as well. The services of Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishara will not be available to the team and hence replacements must be sought. Rishabh Pant’s absence is putting an extra burden of compulsively playing Alex Carey. If the team wishes to play Hetmyer, then they would have to do away with any of the fast bowlers as there is no other player apart from Carey who could keep. And if they wouldn’t like to change the combination of the South African duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, then most likely the same XI which played against Mumbai Indians would play this game as well. Expected XI Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (c), Alex Carey (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje Rajasthan Royals The Rajasthan team wouldn’t want to tinker with the winning combination that they have found after quite a lot of failures. If any, then Yashasvi Jaiswal might be back in place of Robin Uthappa. Expected XI Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith (c), Robin Uthappa, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kolkata Knight Riders: Dream 11 team and suggestions Jos Buttler (wk), Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Shreyas Iyer(c), Ben Stokes, Marcus Stoinis, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia (vc), Harshal Patel, Jofra Archer, Kagiso Rabada, Captain: Shreyas Iyer Vice-captain: Rahul Tewatia

IPL 2020: Dinesh Karthik defends Rahul Tripathi's demotion following KKR's heavy defeat

Dinesh Karthik had a forgettable night at the wheel as Kolkata Knight Riders received a thrashing at the hands of Virat Kohli and Co. The playing XI gave an impression that the two-time champions are a bowler short in Sharjah. English cricketer Tom Banton replaced spinner Sunil Narine, and it resulted in Rahul Tripathi losing the opening slot. The move backfired in no time as Navdeep Saini’s searing pace got the better of a dodgy Banton early in the chase. KKR got off to a nervy start, getting to 50 in 7.4 overs. Shubman Gill too failed to show intent and he hardly got going, which put immense pressure on the rest of the batters. All the reputed customers fell like a pack of cards as the Bangalore side broke the back of Knight Riders’ famed batting line-up. On being asked whether KKR missed a trick by not sending an in-form Tripathi as an opener on a slowish track, Karthik replied to One Cricket, saying “No, I think once you play Tom Banton, you got to make sure that he opens because that is where he is best at. Also, Rahul Tripathi is versatile and he can adapt to any situation. So we went with Banton as he has opened at international cricket and has done well." The 82-run loss has put a dent on Kolkata’s run-rate, however, they still find themselves at the fourth spot with eight points while Royal Challengers have moved up to the third spot with ten points in their kitty.
