Not too long back Lionel Messi’s transfer saga involving FC Barcelona broke the internet. While the transfer market is a vital part in the game of football, it is slowly and steadily making ground in cricket.

The Indian Premier League 2020 has so far offered numerous breathtaking moments and the mid-season transfer window is set to add an edge to the money-spinning league. 

The IPL 2020 mid-season transfer window opened on Tuesday as the league reached the half-way mark post Royal Challengers Bangalore’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. All the teams have played seven matches which make them eligible to participate in the transfer window. Teams now have the liberty to loan out both Indian and foreign players. The rule is applicable for capped as well as uncapped players. The window would come as a fresh lease of life to bench-warmers who are raring to make a statement and for franchises to alter their bench arsenal. The lending franchise will avail the mutually agreed sum between the two bodies. Fifty per cent of the loan fee will have to be paid within seven days of registration and the rest within seven days of the finale of the season. Both the player and franchise will have to mutually agree to the terms, the franchise will take the final call. There have been a lot of speculations surrounding the transfer window, let’s settle it for once and all. 


When does the IPL 2020 mid-season transfer window start?


The transfer window started on Tuesday, October 13 and it will last for five days.


What are the changes in the transfer window this year?


Unlike last year, capped players are also eligible for a transfer. In 2019, the IPL Governing Council introduced the transfer window which was solely aimed at the transfer of uncapped players.


What are the criteria players must fulfil to make a temporary move from the parent team to the other side?


The rules clearly state that only those players who have played in two or fewer matches for their parent team in the ongoing league will be eligible to make a switch. 


Will there be any restrictions on players who would switch sides in IPL 2020?


The cricketers who sign for a different team during the window will not be allowed to play against his parent team.

IPL 2020: Dinesh Karthik defends Rahul Tripathi's demotion following KKR's heavy defeat

Dinesh Karthik had a forgettable night at the wheel as Kolkata Knight Riders received a thrashing at the hands of Virat Kohli and Co. The playing XI gave an impression that the two-time champions are a bowler short in Sharjah. English cricketer Tom Banton replaced spinner Sunil Narine, and it resulted in Rahul Tripathi losing the opening slot. Also, Rahul Tripathi is versatile and he can adapt to any situation. So we went with Banton as he has opened at international cricket and has done well." The 82-run loss has put a dent on Kolkata’s run-rate, however, they still find themselves at the fourth spot with eight points while Royal Challengers have moved up to the third spot with ten points in their kitty. Sharjah's featherbed unveiled its alter ego tonight as Royal Challengers Bangalore made light work of Kolkata Knight Riders to steamroll at fat 82-run win in the 28th match of the Indian Premier League 2020. AB de Villiers engineered a visual treat worth 73* off 33 balls before two-wicket hauls from Washington Sundar and Chris Morris sealed the deal, as RCB locomoted to the third spot on Monday, October 12. On a venue that has proven to be a spinner's worst nightmare, that wreckers-in-chief Yuzvendra Chahal and Sundar conceded just 32 runs in eight overs amongst them while booking three scalps deserves a 21-gun salute.
