Interpol issues look-out notice for Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane

Fresh trouble is brewing for Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane as the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a diffusion notice against him for his alleged involvement in raping a minor girl.

According to a reports the National Central Bureau of Nepal Police has requested the global watchdog- INTERPOL- to issue a notice against the suspended Nepal skipper.

As a result, the police of 194 countries can arrest and deport Lamichhane to Nepal for further investigation in the rape case filed against him on September 06.

Here's what Nepal Deputy Inspector General Tek Prasad Rai said

"We have issued a diffusion notice asking Interpol to locate, arrest, and return the accused after he is neither in contact with us nor are his whereabouts known to us," 

The INTERPOL can also issue a red-alert against Sandeep, in case, the organization wants to conduct its own investigation in the matter.

The minor girl alleged that Sandeep Lamichhane raped her in a hotel on the night of August 21

Cricket fraternity was taken aback earlier this month when a 17-year-old girl, and her brother, filed a case against Sandeep Lamichhane at the Gaushala Police Circle.

According to reports, Lamichhane then immediately fled to Kenya to participate in a T20 tournament before moving to the Caribbean islands to take part in the CPL.

Lamichhane was in the West Indies when the FIR was filed against him. He immediately pleaded innocence to the Cricket Association Nepal while seeking their support.

The mystery spinner also put a post on his official Facebook account where he again pleaded innocence.

"I am INNOCENT & keep complete belief in the respectable laws of Nepal. I have decided to take a leave from CPL and go back to my country within few days. I am ready to face all these baseless allegations. May justice be served to to the innocent and right investigation to be done towards everyone involved. Hope the law acts equal to everyone.  

However, 19 days since the report was filed, Lamichhane was nowhere to be found, which forced Nepal Police to request the INTERPOL to file a lookout notice for him.

On Monday, September 26th, Lamichhane again took to his FB account, claiming that he has been a victim of rumour mongering, and that "baseless allegations without any proof" has damaged his mental health.

Lamichhane has thus far represented Nepal in 30 ODIs and 40 T20Is. He also represented the Delhi Capitals in the 2017 edition of the IPL.
