As the cricketing world braces for World Cup 2023, the wave of excitement among fans is discernible.

Mastercard users get a head start as World Cup tickets fly off digital shelves

The quadrennial cricketing extravaganza set to be hosted by India has been anticipated for a long time. However, the enthusiasm was especially evident during the recent exclusive ticket pre-sale.

Within just four hours of the release, tickets for all of India's World Cup matches were snapped up. This exclusive pre-sale, initiated by ICC's ticketing partner 'BookMyShow' was solely for Mastercard holders, both domestic and international.

The excitement was visible, especially for the India vs. Pakistan match scheduled for October 14th. The India vs Pakistan World Cup tickets vanished within the first hour of the pre-sale.

However, the rush for the World Cup tickets had its share of hiccups. Fans earlier reported issues with BookMyShow, with some facing long wait times and others being thwarted by app crashes.

On the evening of August 28, 6 PM IST, the exclusive online pre-sale for all Indian matches was launched. Despite the two-ticket per person limitation, the overwhelming response from Mastercard users saw tickets selling out rapidly.

Are India vs Pakistan World Cup tickets sold out?

An anonymous BCCI source informed PTI that a significant amount of tickets, especially for the India vs Pakistan match will be made available to the general public on September 3.

Given that the match is to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium which has a colossal seating capacity of 132,000, fans are in for another busy day of ticket sales.

How to buy World Cup 2023 tickets?

For those disheartened by the initial sale for Mastercard users, hope remains. While the ICC has imposed a two-ticket cap for all India matches, including the semi-finals and finals, fans can buy up to four tickets for matches not featuring India.

The tickets for India's World Cup games will be released in stages. Starting from August 30, fans can purchase tickets for India’s warm-up matches. The group stage games will have their tickets released on August 31, followed by the semifinals and finals tickets availability from September 15.
