The Himachal Pradesh all-rounder Rishi Dhawan has officially called it quits on white-ball cricket as of Sunday, January 5th, wrapping up his journey in the shorter formats of the game. Notably, Dhawan got his start on the international scene under MS Dhoni back in 2016, playing three ODIs and a single T20I for India.
However, it was in domestic cricket where Rishi Dhawan truly made his mark. Over his career, he racked up a solid 839 runs and took 38 wickets in List-A cricket. In T20s, he scored 1,740 runs and claimed 118 wickets. His IPL stints with the Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and KKR saw him contribute 210 runs and snag 25 wickets.

After Himachal Pradesh team was eliminated from the group phase in Vijay Hazare Trophy, Rishi Dhawan announced his retirement taking to social media. He shared on his official social media that he's stepping away from Indian cricket. He mentioned that it was a tough decision for him, but he has no regrets. Dhawan reflected on how much the sport has meant to him, filling his life with joy and unforgettable memories that he'll always hold dear.
Posting on his official Instagram handle, Dhawan shared,
"It’s with a heavy heart, even though I have no regrets, that I’d like to announce my retirement from Indian cricket (Limited over). It’s a sport that has defined my life for the past 20 years. This game has given me immeasurable joy and countless memories that would always stay very close to my heart. "
Dhawan's decision to hang up his white-ball boots followed a decent stint in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he managed to get good runs in the tournament. Besides his occasional cameos in the tournament one of his most remarkable performance was against Sikkim where he smashed a massive unbeaten 82 off 72 balls. His last match was against Andhra, where he picked up two wickets and scored an unbeaten 45.
