India Women’s Blind cricket team created history by becoming the first side to qualify for the final of the ongoing IBSA World Games 2023 in Birmingham. One of the three teams participating in the women’s cricket segment, India Women romped to big wins over their Australian and English counterparts.

Notably, the 2023 IBSA World Games is the first to include cricket in the competition, featuring both men’s and women’s cricket.

India Women Blind team remain unbeaten, storm into final

India Women’s Blind team cruised to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Australia in the opening match of the competition. Remarkably, they restricted the Australian batters to just 59-6 in their innings upfront before chasing down the target.

In their next match, the Indians stacked up a monumental 268-2 from their 20 overs against England, and later restricted the hosts to just 83 to register a thumping 185-run victory. The ‘Women in Blue’ batter Gangavva H clobbered a 60-ball 117 in the match to engineer the massive win.

India Women stepped into the field once again to face Australia in their third match of the competition. Emerging triumphant by 163 runs, the Indians stormed into the finals, where they will face either one of their two opponents, depending upon the remaining results.

Meanwhile in the men’s competition, India Men’s Blind team will compete in the semi-finals on Friday, August 25. A win in the knockout will guide them into the finals, where they will face Pakistan.
