Rohit Sharma recently grabbed attention for a motivating pep talk he delivered during Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match against Jammu and Kashmir. Despite not captaining the team – with Ajinkya Rahane leading – Rohit stepped in to address his teammates in a huddle before the final innings on Day 3 at the Bandra Kurla Complex Ground. A video of this moment quickly went viral, winning praise from fans on social media.

Rohit’s personal performance in the match wasn’t his best, scoring only 3 and 28 in the two innings. Mumbai struggled early, managing just 120 runs in their first innings, while Jammu and Kashmir took an 84-run lead, scoring 206. J&K's Shubham Khajuria (53) and Abid Mushtaq (44) were the standout batters, while Mohit Avasthi impressed with a five-wicket haul (5/52) for Mumbai.

In their second innings, Mumbai had a rocky start again. Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave hope with a 54-run opening partnership, but the team soon crumbled to 101/7. Star batters like Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, and Shivam Dube failed to make an impact.

However, the lower order saved the day. Shardul Thakur, who had scored a fighting 51 in the first innings, delivered a spectacular unbeaten 113. He partnered with Tanush Kotian, who scored a solid 58*, to build a massive 173-run stand. Their efforts helped Mumbai post 274/7, giving J&K a challenging target of 205 runs.

Shubham Khajuria's composed 45-run knock and Vivrant Sharma's steady 38 runs played a crucial role in guiding Jammu and Kashmir to a 5-wicket victory in a tightly contested Ranji Trophy match.
