IND vs WI | 2nd ODI: Prasidh Krishna scalps four as India take unassailable lead

Riding on some brilliant show from the bowlers and especially Prasidh Krishna, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series against West Indies in Ahmedabad.

Chasing 238, the visitors were bowled out for 193 in 46 overs with Krishna picking up four wickets.

West Indies had a decent start to the chase with Shai Hope and Brandon King putting up 32 runs on the board before Prasidh removed King for 18 off 20.

The Caribbean side then lost the way and suffered another batting collapse to get reduced to 76/5. Shamarh Brooks and Akeal Hosein then tried to steady the ship with a partnership of 41 runs for the sixth wicket.

But Deepak Hooda who made his debut for India in the previous game picked the first wicket of his career after he removed Brooks for 44 off 64.

The visiting team didn't really get back on track as they lost a few more wickets and were eventually bundled out. Hosein scored 34 off 52 while Odean Smith chipped in with a 20-ball 24 but their efforts weren't really enough to take the team home.

Apart from Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur picked up a couple of wickets while Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, and Hooda had one wicket to their names apiece.

Earlier, India made a few tweaks in the batting unit as KL Rahul returned and replaced Ishan Kishan while the team management decided to ask Rishabh Pant to open the innings with Rohit Sharma.

The experiment didn't really work as India lost early wickets but KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav resisted well and chipped in with 91 runs for the fourth wicket. While KL was run out for 49, SKY struck 64 during the course.

The home side also lost wickets at regular intervals but a responsible and quick 29 off 25 from Hooda helped India put 237/9 in 50 overs on the board.

"Obviously winning the series is a good feeling. There were some challenges. The partnership between Rahul and Surya had a lot of maturity. We got to a respectable total in the end. We knew we could fight it out. The entire unit came out and bowled superbly. It is important for these guys to bat under pressure and that is how you will judge their character. Surya had to take his time and understand what the team wants from him," Rohit said after the match.

IND vs WI | 2nd ODI: India in command after bowlers rattle West Indies

India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna ripped through the West Indies top and middle-order during the second ODI of the series in Ahmedabad. The home side after batting first managed to put 237/9 in 50 overs and West Indies were off to a steady start with openers Shai Hope and Brandon King putting up 32 runs for the first wicket. But it was in the 8th over when Krishna provided India with the first breakthrough as he sent King packing for a 20-ball 18 after he was caught by Pant behind the stumps. The right-arm bowler then followed this with another scalp after he removed Darren Bravo for 1 off 3. He was also caught behind by Pant. Hope was then joined by Shamarh Brooks in the middle and the two batters tried to provide but couldn't really add many runs to the tally. Hope was the third batsman to go back in the hut after being caught by Suryakumar Yadav off Chahal for 27 off 54, leaving West Indies struggling at 52/3. But the misery didn't end here as Krishna then returned to remove Pooran for 9 off 13 while Shardul Thakur picked up the priced wicket of Jason Holder as the Caribbean side was left tottering at 76/5. Brooks was later joined by Akeal Hosein and the two batters tried to steady the ship as they chipped in with 41 runs for the sixth wicket. Just when the visiting team was looking stable in the chase a bit, Deepak Hooda who had made his debut in the previous match came in for his first over and got rid of Brooks who was caught by Suryakumar for 44 off 64.
