IND vs SL | Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga ruled out of India series

Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the India series after testing positive for Covid-19 for the second time in two weeks. Hasaranga first tested positive in a Rapid Antigen test on the morning of the third T20I against Australia on 15 February. He was shifted to Melbourne from Canberra to remain in isolation till he tested negative for the infection.

In a big jolt to the island nation, Hasaranga has once again tested positive for the infection on 22 February on RAT test and will now stay in Australia while the rest of his teammates go up against India starting 24 February.

The Indian counterpart is not free of injuries either and will not be full strength going into the short format series. Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav have been ruled out of the series due to their respective injuries, and India have not named a replacement yet.

Barring those two, India will see the return of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. While Jadeja will be making a comeback after recovering from an injury, Bumrah will be back after taking a much deserved break against West Indies.
