Tim Paine case: Woman reveals the messages were never consensual

In a shocking revelation, the woman at the centre of the Tim Paine sexting scandal said that the graphic texts were not consensual. This contradicts the claims made by Paine when he decided to step down as Australia Test captain. "Because it was a consensual exchange of messages months beforehand, I didn't think it was anything to consider.”

The entire matter became public when Renee Ferguson, the woman launched a legal action in the Federal Court against Cricket Tasmania accusing several employees including a former Australia captain of sexual harassment during her tenure at the organization in 2017.

It shook the fraternity and Tim Paine quitted the captaincy. Ferguson is fighting for $100,000 in compensation from the organization along with an apology.

Paine allegedly texted her in the hours before he played in an Ashes Test match at Brisbane. According to Ferguson, she was unsure how to deal with the “sexually explicit” text messages.

In the lengthy document, Ferguson told the Federal court judge that she was “taken aback” and felt offended receiving inappropriate pictures from Paine.

Allegedly, Shannon Tubb also sent her such messages while he was Cricket Tasmania’s high-performance manager.

At present Tubb is a cricket coach at a South Australian school. She also accused two other managers at the organisation of targeting her with inappropriate comments while she worked there. She further claimed that the behaviour was “relentless and systemic” and left her with devastating mental health.

A federal court judge urged Cricket Tasmania and Ms Ferguson into mediation, which will go ahead next month.
