One of the finest T20 batters currently, Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the Player of the Series award for his contribution of 119 runs in three innings against South Africa on Tuesday.

In the first game, Surya returned with a knock of 50* off 33 balls, while followed it up with a blistering 22-ball 61 and helped India to seal the series. The last game witnessed him contributing only 8, but he had already broken a few records in the series.

One such record was hitting most sixes in a calendar year in the shortest format. With 51 sixes in 2022, SKY went past Mohammad Rizwan, who struck 42 sixes in 2021. With his innate ability to send balls all over the park, he has become the crowd's favourite in no time.

Receiving the series honours, SKY reckoned he was not habitual of checking enough stats before 2019, but the demand of the game forced him to take a note of it. He also expressed his excitement to face new challenges in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

"I didn't check the stats before 2019 but later, it was a demand of the game [on hitting 50 sixes this year]. My friends send these things (stats and numbers) on WhatsApp, but I don't follow it,"

"I think the thought process was the same, I wanted to enjoy it as DK was batting, so I had to take a step back. Australia will be a really good challenge, and I am looking forward to it."

It will be interesting to see whether he can translate his bilateral form and help India emerge victorious in the World Cup.
