Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Roundup, Day 2: 4th October

Pakistan's premier red-ball tournament, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy resumed on Tuesday (October 4). Here's a brief report on the three matches played at Abbottabad, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. 


Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vs Southern Punjab

Southern Punjab started Day 2 on 48/3. The batting unit managed to churn out runs, which avoided pressure to take control of them. The keeper Umar Siddiq was sensational with his knock of 112, while Agha Salman hit 64 to power them to a score of 308. Ihsanullah was the pick of the bowlers for Khyber with two wickets. 

At the end of Day 2, Khyber are at 4/1, while losing Ashfaq Ahmed (4). It will be interesting to see whether they can be proficient to save the match.

Northern vs Sindh

Sindh resumed Day 2 on 279/4, with skipper Saud Shakeel already batting at 112*. Shakeel continued his momentum to hit 158, while Sarfaraz Ahmed slammed 70 off 136 balls. The contributions of Mohammad Asghar (29) and Asif Mehmood (21) helped them to post 457 on the board. 

In response, Northern are at 129/2, with contributions from Umar Amin (60) and Muhammad Huraira (42).

Balochistan vs Central Punjab

Central Punjab were at 91/2 at the start of Day 2 at Rawalpindi. The proficient batter Azhar Ali (107) and Mohammad Saad (38) were impressive with their clinical effort to see out the morning session. 

Afterwards, Tayyab Tahir (118*) and youngster Qasim Akram (59*) have put a terrific effort to help finish Day 2 on 417/4.
