Not so long ago, India’s World Cup aspirations were shattered as Australia ended their dream run by delivering a deadly blow to knock India out of the competition. The heartbreaking defeat sent tremors and shockwaves throughout the nation as fans mourned the defeat of their national side at the grand event.

As the atmosphere within the Indian dressing room continues to appear grim, the 2023 World Cup finalists will once again square off in the five-match T20I series starting on November 23. This time around, the Men in Blue will be spearheaded by a new leader in the form of Suryakumar Yadav who will lead the team in the absence of Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma.

Ahead of the first T20I match, Yadav conducted his maiden press conference as the captain of team India at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium in the urban center. The occasion witnessed a meager attendance from the media, as a seasoned journalist remarked that only a couple of journalists were present at the press conference.

"From 200 odd media people (during World Cup) to just two in press conference in India is staggering! SKY wouldn’t have imagined this in his first PC as captain. Is this a record with fewest attendance in a press conference in India? I would imagine so," OneCricket's correspondent Vimal Kumar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Such a sharp drop in media presence would have certainly caught Suryakumar off guard. As a T20I captain for Team India, he wouldn’t have anticipated such a poor media turnout following the conclusion of the World Cup.

With only two media personnel attending his press conference, this PC is likely to go down as the least attended press conference in India in recent times.

The Men in Blue would be aiming to start a new chapter following their heartbreaking World Cup final defeat as Suryakumar Yadav and his men look to leave a strong impact in the forthcoming T20I series which will conclude on December 3.
