IND vs AUS, 3rd T20I: Jasprit Bumrah registers his most expensive T20I bowling figure

Riding on match-winning half centuries from Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli, hosts India handed a six-wicket defeat to Australia in a nail-biting affair to clinch the three-match T20I series on Sunday.

However, to India's concern, their ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah had a forgettable outing, conceding 50 runs in his four overs without picking a wicket.

Bumrah was belted for 17 runs in his very first over, thanks to one boundary and two gigantic sixes from Cameron Green. Although he made a decent comeback, giving away 15 runs in his next two overs, Tim David and Daniel Sams ensured he finished with miserable figures, smashing him for 18 in his final over.

This was Bumrah's most expensive spell ever in his illustrious T20I career. The star seamer had recorded 47 runs against West Indies in Florida in 2016; his worst T20I spell before the current one.

Jasprit Bumrah's five most expensive T20I bowling spells

  • 0/50 (4) vs Australia, Hyderabad, 2022
  • 2/47 (4) vs West Indies, Lauderhill, Florida, 2016
  • 0/45 (4) vs New Zealand, Hamilton, 2020
  • 1/43 (4) vs Australia, Sydney, 2016
  • 1/42 (4) vs West Indies, Mumbai, 2016

Notably, Bumrah blew hot and cold in the series, scalping just one wicket in two matches at a poor economy rate of 12.17, his highest-ever in a bilateral series. The 28-year-old looked rusty as he was returning from injury; therefore, the upcoming South Africa T20Is hold paramount importance for him to regain his rhythm.
