Sourav Ganguly biopic to get an update

Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter and wrote that he will be announcing something special for his fans on his birthday. He also requested his followers to “stay tuned”, and shared an image which reads “leading with”.

While the tweet holds no context, fans of the cricketer are assuming it to be a hint for a possible update around his much-awaited biopic movie.

Back in September 2021, Ganguly himself confirmed that a biopic centered around his life is in the works in Bollywood. The movie will be produced by Luv Ranjan under the Luv Ranjan Films banner.

Ganguly is widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian captains of all time. He took over India’s leadership role following the match-fixing scandal of 2000.

He played 113 Tests, and led Team India in 49 of those. He also captained the ‘Men in Blue’ in 146 ODIs out of the 311 he played between his debut and international retirement.

Under his leadership, the Indian team halted Australia’s undefeated Test reign with a series win in 2001. Furthermore, he led his side in their runners-up campaign at the 2003 World Cup in South Africa.

Ganguly scored over 18,000 runs across both formats, and claimed 132 wickets with his medium pace.

Up until recently, he served as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
