The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to restart its media rights sale in Australian market. The governing body had earlier initiated the process, before stalling it in September 2022.

The ICC had to pause their sale because Cricket Australia (CA) themselves were going to market for their own rights around the same period. The Australian board recently completed the process by signing a deal with existing partners Foxtel Group and Seven West Media.

ICC resumes further media sales after windfall Indian deal

Earlier, the ICC completed the task in the Indian market by signing a $3 billion deal with Star and Zee network for the next four-year cycle. As per rough estimates, the contribution towards the ICC revenue through the Indian market now amounts to more than 80 percent, i.e., a staggering jump from an already-impressive 70 percent contribution from the previous deal.

The apex council has also completed the sale for the markets in US, Canada and the West Indies. However, the name of the broadcasters in these regions are yet to be revealed by the governing body.

The ICC have already released an Invitation to Tender (ITT) in Australia.

As per reports, they are also eyeing to rope in broadcasters from other major markets of the cricketing world like South Africa and the United Kingdom.
