'I know for a long time these things are troubling us'- Harmanpreet on India's finishing woes

The Indian women will be looking forward to a fresh start in their upcoming white-ball series against England women.

One of the issues that has plagued the Indian women's team is the inability to close out their innings with a flourish. India have been found wanting on various such occasions when the middle and the lower middle order were expected to step up. The most recent example being the recently concluded Commonwealth Games. In the Birmingham CWG final, India, chasing Australia's 162, were on course at 118 for 2 before losing the plot and were bowled out for 152 in 19.3 overs.

Reflecting on the same, Harmanpreet Kaur said:

“We are working on that. I know for a long time these things are troubling us. We need to show some patience and after a while we will start getting the results also."

KP Navgire and Dayalan Hemalatha added to the side

This time around however, India have added KP Navgire, who impressed one and all with her big hitting skills in the Women's Challenger Trophy 2022 along with the experienced Dayalan Hemalatha. Speaking about their addition in the squad, skipper Kaur said:

“That is why this time we have added two more batters — Dayalan Hemalatha and — KP Navgire — in the side who can finish the game for us. They have done really well in domestic cricket, scored good amount of runs."

India will be looking for fresh start against England after the CWG disappointment.

“We have done really well in the CWG but now it’s a new start for us. England have always done well against us. For us it will be very challenging. (But) CWG has given us a lot of confidence," Harmanpreet said.

India are in England on a two-week white-ball tour that comprises six white-ball games — three T20Is and as many ODIs.
