  • I Dont Want To Show Any Excuses Skipper Disappointed With Bangladeshs Performance In The First T20i

Nurul Hasan disappointed with Bangladesh’s performance

Bangladesh skipper Nurul Hasan denied giving any excuses for his team’s poor performance against Zimbabwe in the first T20 International. Playing at the Harare Sports Club, Bangladesh failed to chase the score and ended up losing by 17 runs.

It was a poor bowling performance by the visitors as they conceded a whopping 205 runs in the first innings. Mustafizur Rahman picked two wickets but his economy rate of 12.5 was alarming.

Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam also looked out of touch and leaked runs at an economy of over ten. Hasan gracefully accepted the fault of the bowlers while making a promise to come back stronger in the next game.

Bangladesh was let down by bowlers

"I think we failed to bowl in good areas in the last five to six overs and they batted really well. There are the areas (bowling in the last five to six overs) that we need to improve before the next game," Nurul said as quoted by India Today.

Meanwhile, there is a scope for improvement in the batting as well. The Tigers ended up scoring only 188 runs in their 20 overs. The skipper showed good intent as he played a blistering knock of 42 runs off just 26 balls.

Liton Das also looked in good touch as he contributed 32 runs to the scoreboard. However, the team fell short of 17 runs due to the lack of a big knock by any of the Bangladesh batters.

Hasan hoping for improved performance

Speaking about the performance, Hasan mentioned that they have a lot to improve as a unit. The team will be playing a must-win game against Zimbabwe on Sunday in Harare.

"I don't want to show any excuses, whether it is batting, bowling or fielding, it is all about us and we have to improve. Everyone tried their level best and it was a 50-50 game. Chasing down over 200 runs would have been a big deal.

"When we came to the dressing room we were confident that we could chase down the total as the wicket was good, but as I said, we have a lot to improve as far as bowling in the last five to six overs are concerned.

“I feel if we had given 10 to 15 runs less, then it could have been a different game altogether," the Bangladesh skipper mentioned.
