I don’t need to worry too much because he’s (MS Dhoni) here- Ravindra Jadeja

Indian all-rounder and newly-appointed Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja has said that while he has big shoes to fill in, he is not worried as his 'go-to man' Dhoni will be present to guide him.

Dhoni, on Thursday, sent shockwaves around the cricket world when news emerged that he has decided to pass the leadership baton to Jadeja.

Reacting to the development, Jadeja thanked his fans for their good wishes besides admitting that he will have to carry the legacy forward.

"Feeling good. At the same time, I need to fill in big boots like Mahi Bhai’s who has already set a big legacy, so I need to carry forward," said Jadeja in a video posted by the Super Kings social media handle.

"I don’t need to worry too much because he’s here so whatever I have any questions to ask, I’ll definitely go to him. He’ll be my go-to person, he was, and he still is today, so I am not worried too much. So thank you all for your wishes and love, cheers," Jadeja added.

Dhoni will go down in history as the greatest captain that the T20 league has witnessed.

The 'Captain Cool' led the Super Kings to as many as four IPL titles- 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021- and a couple of Champions League T20 titles in 2010 and 2014.

Besides that, he also led CSK to as many as 9 finals and is the only skipper to lead his franchise to the playoffs for 10 consecutive seasons.

CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan revealed to ESPNcricinfo' that the champion skipper had been thinking about passing the baton for some time now, and he felt that relinquishing the leadership duties before the start of the new season is the ideal time to do so

"MS Dhoni was thinking about it. He felt it is the right time to hand over captaincy to Jaddu (Jadeja). He feels Jaddu is also in prime form of his career and it is the ideal time for him to lead CSK. What will be good for the franchise must be (in the) back of his mind.” he said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo'

Overall, Dhoni led CSK to 121 wins in 204 games and his W% of 59.60 is second only to Rohit Sharma's 59.68.

CSK will usher into the Ravindra Jadeja era when they take on last years' runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders in the season opener on March 26.
