The massive news for Pakistani cricket fans is that opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub are expected to be fit for the PSL season 10. For context, both players were ruled out of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025, missing a significant amount of cricket for their nation.
Pakistan Openers To Be Fit For PSL 10
As reported by Pakistani media outlet Geo Super, Pakistani batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, who were ruled out from this Champions Trophy 2025, are hopefully expected to be fit in time when the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season begins in April.
The massive scare arrived for the Pakistan team before the Champions Trophy when Ayub, who was playing against South Africa in the Test series, suffered an ankle injury
He was immediately ruled out for the next few months, whereas Zaman, who featured in the first game of the tournament against New Zealand, injured his left lower intercostal muscle.
However, both these players have not been considered for the upcoming Pakistan tour of New Zealand comprising of five T20Is and three ODIs beginning on the 16th of March.
As for Zaman, he is expected to start his practice in due time and will be available for his PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars.
Whereas Saim Ayub, who fractured his right ankle, underwent surgery in January and required at least six weeks of rest, ruling him out for the entirety of the Champions Trophy. On a positive note, the news for Ayub is that he is also expected to be fit for the PSL to play for his side, Peshawar Zalmi, where Babar Azam is also a prominent member.
PSL 10 Set To Begin On 11th April
A few days ago, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the schedule for the 10th edition of the PSL, which is also set to run concurrently with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The Pakistan-based league will begin on the 11th of April with the Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars game in Rawalpindi, whereas the finals are set to be played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on the 18th of May.
